Chris Froome will miss the Tour de France due to the injuries caused by a crash during the TT recon in the Criterium du Dauphine.

Reports from France say that the Briton took his hand off the handlebars to blow his nose and was hit by a sidewind that pushed him against a wall at around 60 kilometres per hour. The rider was taken to the hospital right away.

Team Ineos' general manager Sir Dave Brailsford said to Belgian journalists covering the Dauphine that it is "pretty clear" that the rider won't be able to be ready on time for the Tour de France. Froome was set to lead the team in an attempt to take his fifth title in the French grand tour.

The British team will likely be lead by Geraint Thomas -winner of the 2018 Tour de France- who will have the support of Colombian talent Egan Bernal.
