Photo finish victory for Julian Alaphilippe in Criterium du Dauphine

Julian Alaphilippe (Deceuninck-Quick-Step) has taken the victory of the sixth stage of the Criterium du Dauphine. The rider contested the final sprint with Gregor Mühlberger that had to be decided by photo finish.
The stage was the first glimpse at the mountains and took the riders through a 229-kilometre long route that featured three second-category climbs, two of the third category and three ascents of the fourth category. Julian Alaphilippe, Gregor Mühlberger and Alessandro De Marchi formed the escape of the day and right away set a pace that was difficult for the others to follow.
The trio got a gap of more than 12 minutes with a peloton that was pulled by teams like Ineos and Mitchelton-Scott, among others. Alaphilippe attacked at the last climb of the day, but he couldn't get rid of Mühlberger, while De Marchi was dropped. The two riders arrived together to the finish line and fought in a very close sprint that was decided in favour of Alaphilippe with photo finish.
De Marchi crossed the line 22 seconds behind the front duo and Adam Yates arrived with the peloton at six minutes and 10 seconds from Alaphilippe and maintained the lead of the general classification.
