Astana's Arlenis Sierra has become the new Cuban national champion of time trial and on the road. This is the second time the rider takes these titles of the country.

After an outstanding performance in the Vuelta Femenina a Guatemala, in which she took the victory of four stages and was a key part for the overall win of Liliana Moreno, Sierra went to Cuba to participate in the National championships. There she first took the title in the 15.5-kilometre long individual time trial by completing the course in 20 minutes and 27 seconds.

Her teammate Jeidi Pradera took the silver medal by finishing the route 33 seconds slower than Sierra, and Yeima Torres finished in the third position with a time 45 slower than the champion. One day later, the rider took the victory of the women's race -her second title in her home country- which confirmed her status as the most important Cuban rider in the women's peloton.

These two titles come for the rider in a season in which she has taken the victory of the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race and top-ten spots in races like the Driedaagse Brugge-DePanne, the road race of the Pan American championships and the Winston Salem Cycling Classic.
