Movistar's Alejandro Valverde is returning to competition in the Route d'Occitanie. The rider crashed just before Liege-Bastogne-Liege and had to take some time to completely recover.
The World Champion was training for the fourth monument of the season when he crashed and got hit in the sacrum. The rider had to withdraw from the race and later on was diagnosed with bone oedema, an injury that forced him to stay out of competition since last April.
Valverde is now ready to come back to test his shape at the French Route d'Occitanie, which will be held between the 20th and the 23rd of June. The World champion will be the leader of Movistar and will show his rainbow colours in the French roads, also to test his legs ahead of his potential participation in the Tour de France.
Movistar's roster for the Route d'Occitanie (20th to 23rd of June):
Alejandro Valverde
Jorge Arcas
Jaime Castrillo
Antonio Pedrero
Jose Joaquin Rojas
