Geraint Thomas has suffered a crash in the last stretch of the fourth stage of the Tour de Suisse. The rider of Team Ineos is currently under examination at the Bruderholzspital Basel.

The winner of the 2018 edition of the Tour de France hit the deck with around 30 kilometres to go of the fourth stage of the Swiss race. The rider had to withdraw from the race, but Team Ineos made clear that he was conscious the entire time after the fall.

Roland Kretsch, Doctor of the Tour de Suisse, commented on the situation of the rider. "Geraint Thomas has suffered a laceration on the right side of his head, multiple abrasions and multiple severe bruises as a consequence of his fall during today's 4th stage," he commented in a statement. "Further medical examinations are currently taking place at the Bruderholzspital Basel."
