Astana's Andrey Zeits and Omar Fraile were victims of a crash in the last stretch of the fourth stage of the Tour de Suisse.

The two riders hit the deck in the same crash that affected Ineos' Geraint Thomas -with around 35 kilometres to go- but with less luck for one of them. Immediately after the crash Zeits was taken to the hospital for a detailed medical checking while Fraile got back to the bike and managed to finish the fourth stage of the Swiss race.

Zeits underwent further examinations and scans that diagnosed a complex fracture of the left collarbone as well as a superficial fracture of the fifth rib. The rider also suffered multiple abrasions and bruises.

"Andrey Zeits will have surgery in the hospital of Dornach and will stay there under medical control for a few more days," said Astana in a statement. Fraile suffered multiple abrasions on the left part of his body and on his right elbow and the team expects that he will be able to start on the fifth stage of the race.
