Clasica San Sebastian Women's Edition

The Clasica San Sebastian has presented its route for the 2019 edition of the race. The Spanish race will have a women's race for the first time.

For some months, there were rumours about a women's Clasica San Sebastian and this is materialising in 2019. The race will be held on the exact same day as the men's -the third of August- and the prizes will be equal.

The women's race will be 127.1 kilometres long and will include four classified climbs, including the iconic Jaizkibel, and two intermediate sprints in Zurriola and Usurbil. A total of 18 teams have already confirmed its participation, but there will likely be more.

The men's race will take the peloton over 227 kilometres, that will feature seven classified climbs, including the Jaizkibel and the Erlaitz, and two intermediate sprints in the exact same place as the earlier race. The 2019 edition of the race will have 22 participant teams.

"The commitment of the City Hall with equality and sports is firm," said Sports councillor Martin Ibabe. "Now it's the time to keep advancing and the fact that the Classic will have a women's race with a similar course to the men's and the same prizes, show this commitment."
