UAE Team Emirates has confirmed the contract extension of Tadej Pogacar. The Slovenian rider will stay in the team until at least the end of 2023.

Pogacar has been showing so far in the 2019 season his talents at a young age. The 20-year-old has taken a stage and the overall victory in the Volta ao Algarve, one stage win and the overall classification in the Tour de California and became the Slovenian time trial champion.

The rider has signed a new deal with the Emirati team until at least the end of the 2023 season. "I am very happy to have had the opportunity to sign an agreement that will keep me with UAE Team Emirates for the foreseeable future," Pogacar explained.

"I hope we can develop and progress together in the years ahead. I thank the team for the trust they have placed in me going forward as a cyclist."

The CEO of UAE Team Emirates Mauro Gianetti also showed the satisfaction of the team about this new agreement. "It has been great to see Pogacar develop his enormous talent here with us, which he showed glimpses of in 2018 at the Tour de l'Avenir," Gianetti commented.

"The victories at the Tour of California and the Volta ao Algarve, and his latest strong performances in other big races means that Tadej is not only a rider for the future but has proven himself in the big races already. We wanted to build around a strong team of youngsters with potential to grow and form a strong base for the coming years of Team UAE Emirates. Pogacar is without a doubt one of these."
