Sheyla Gutierrez tops complete Movistar podium in Spanish ITT Championships

Sheyla Gutierrez has taken the victory in the individual time trial of the Spanish national championships. Movistar dominated the competition and three of its riders filled the final podium.
Rodriguez had already tasted the victory in this kind of competition as she took the gold three years ago in the Under 23 category. And today she completed the 21.6-kilometre course in 28 minutes and 56 seconds while Lourdes Oyarbide was 53 seconds slower and Gloria Rodriguez completed the route 55 seconds behind.
"I’m so proud of this victory. Time trials, and more precisely the Spanish Championships, did not go well for me in the past despite having the right conditions to do well – the strength, the aero efficiency," said Gutierrez at the end of the competition. "This course was a real fight against yourself: just staying focused into those long straights, fighting and suffering to keep a high pace – and I finally found the right one to succeed.
"I was able to celebrate with my team-mates, who were phenomenal today, and this result really gives us hope and confidence for Saturday. We’ve got a strong squad all-around, with lots of chances, and we’ll do our best to retain the jersey."
