AG2R La Mondiale's Tony Gallopin and Benoit Cosnefroy have suffered a crash at the road race of the French national championships.

The Frenchmen, along with their teammate Aurelien Paret Paintre, hot the crash at the competition of the national championships of their country. The race took the riders between La Haye and Fouassiere over a 252-kilometre route and Arkea-Samsic's Warren Barguil took the title, while Cofidis' Julien Simon and Damien Touze completed the podium.

"Tony Gallopin suffered 'left elbow wounds that required stitches, but also multiple superficial wounds on the left side and a trauma to the left calf," explained Dr Eric Bouvat, medical director of AG2R La Mondiale.

"Benoît Cosnefroy was taken care of by the medical service of the French Championship organizers, and suffers from 'road rash of the right shoulder, elbow and hip.' As for Aurélien Paret Paintre, he suffers from multiple areas of superficial road rash."

The French team will confirm the participation of Gallopin and Cosnefroy in the Tour de France after further assessment of their injuries. The two riders are set to support Romain Bardet's aspirations in the second grand tour of the season.
