Marianne Vos (CCC-Liv) was the fastest at the final sprint in the second stage of the Giro Rosa. The Dutchwoman outsprinted Annemiek van Vleuten and Lucinda Brand to take the victory in Viu.

The race remained in Piedmont for the second stage, which was 78.3 kilometres long and took the riders over a rolling route with a start and finish in Viu. Early on the day, the peloton faced the Colle del Lis, in which there was a crash that involved riders like Elisa Longo Borghini (Trek-Segafredo) and the wearer of the Pink Jersey Kasia Niewiadoma (Canyon-SRAM).

Sofie De Vuyst (Parkhotel Valkenburg) and Antri Christoforou (Cogeas-Metler-Look) were the first riders to cross the pass and they were caught on the descent. Some kilometres later Ale-Cipollini's Romy Kasper and Lotto Soudal's Kelly Van den Steen launched an attack and created a gap with the rest that reached the three minutes.

The escaped duo was caught with ten kilometres to go and many attacks happened in the last kilometres but a compact group arrived to the last stretch. CCC-Liv's Marianne Vos was the fastest in the final sprint and she was followed by Mitchelton-Scott's Annemiek van Vleuten and Sunweb's Lucinda Brand, while Anna van der Breggen (Boels-Dolmans) and Soraya Paladin (Ale Cipollini) completed the top five of the day.

Niewiadoma remains on top of the General Classification and she is closely followed by her teammates Omer Shapira and Alena Amialiusik. The biggest change in the overall standing is the climb of five positions of Vos, who was in the tenth position on the first stage and is now in the fifth GC place.
