CCC-Liv's Marianne Vos has won her second stage in a row in the Giro Rosa. The Dutchwoman beat Lucy Kennedy at the last moment in the uphill finish in Piedicavallo.
The race remained one more day in Piedmont for the third stage of the longest race of the women's calendar in which the peloton faced a 104.1-kilometre route between Sagliano Micca and Piedicavallo over a route that had a mountain finish.
The day had a lot of activity with attacks from several riders, all of which were successfully repelled by the rest. Just after the 30-kilometre mark, two riders escaped and created a gap of around two minutes but they were reeled back at the same time that Tayler Wiles (Trek-Segafredo) launched a new attack.
At around three kilometres to go, Mitchelton-Scott's Lucy Kennedy also made a move and created a gap with the rest and although she created a gap. at the last 100-metre cobbled section Marianne Vos caught her and took the lead to win the stage, leaving the Australian heartbroken in the second place.
Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig (Bigla), Annemiek van Vleuten (Mitchelton-Scott) and Ashleigh Moolman Pasio completed the top five of the day. Canyon-SRAM's Kasia Niewiadoma keeps the lead of the General Classification for another day.
