Movistar's Nairo Quintana finished the 15th stage of the Tour de France in the 19th position, two minutes and 58 seconds behind the winner Simon Yates. The rider climbed one position in the overall standings, where he sits in the 13th position.
The Colombian was part of the breakaway of the day and remained part of the chasing group until the start of the last climb. When his teammate Mikel Landa got to him and set a new rhythm, Quintana couldn't keep up and finished the stage with a reduced group of the former escapees.
"We didn't stay doing nothing," said the rider at the end of the day. "We delivered a great team strategy for Mikel, because like I said yesterday, we have to support him. All of the teammates did it, I went in front so all the other teams would have to set a higher rhythm and behind, Mikel did a fantastic performance.
"The truth is that I started the final climb with very little air and I couldn't help him, but he arrived there very strong and he could climb very well from there."
