Tour de France
Jumbo-Visma's Tony Martin and Team Ineos' Luke Rowe have been disqualified from the Tour de France. The riders clashed at the last kilometres of the stage and the race commissaries decided to expel them for that.
The UCI thoroughly checked the videos available of the entire incident after the race in the presence of the riders and their respective sports directors. Immediately after that, the decision was confirmed to disqualify both men from the race, which leaves each team with one less rider ahead of the Alps.
The television images showed an annoyed Martin after a curve with around 20 kilometres to go, not allowing Rowe to pass and almost pushing him against the crowd that was at the side of the road. Further details of the incident haven't surfaced but it was clear that both riders put in danger the safety of the public.
Three riders that are in the top five of the General Classification -Geraint Thomas, Egan Bernal and Steven Kruijswijk- are left with one less teammate to support them ahead of the Alpine stages that are coming in the race.
