Deceuninck-Quick-Step's Julian Alaphilippe is set to start at the Clasica San Sebastian to defend the title he got in 2018.

Just after riding the best Tour de France of his career in which he got to wear the Yellow Jersey for 11 days and finished in the fifth position of the General Classification, Alaphilippe is set to be at the start line of the Clasica San Sebastian one year after taking the victory of the race.

The race will be 226-kilometres long with a start and finish in the Spanish city of San Sebastian with a profile that suits climbers and puncheurs alike. The route includes the infamous climbs of Jaizkibel, Erlaitz, and two final ascents of the Murgil-Tontorra, which will likely decide the winner of the race.

"Clasica San Sebastian is always a nice and exciting race with a very hard part in the final," said sports director Wilfried Peeters. "Coming just after Le Tour means that many riders are still in form and can target the victory. We have a strong and motivated team, capable of playing several cards, but the plan is to take it one step at a time, see how the race unfolds and hopefully get a nice result at the end of the day."

Deceuninck-Quick-Step's roster for the Clasica San Sebastian (August 8):

Julian Alaphilippe
Eros Capecchi
Tim Declercq
Dries Devenyns
Remco Evenepoel
Mikkel Honoré
Enric Mas
