Bahrain-Merida's Dylan Teuns will not be at the start line of the Clasica San Sebastian after suffering a "minor home accident".
The Belgian -who won the sixth stage of the Tour de France- was working on his garden when he suffered an accident that left him with a facial wound that required 15 stitches in the forehead. "Due to this and a bashed-up face, unfortunately, he will miss the upcoming ‘Clasica San Sebastian’," said Bahrain-Merida through a statement. "All of us at Team Bahrain Merida wish him a speedy recovery!"
The rider also explained the incident to the Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad. "I was working at home with my tractor with a machine behind it," he commented. "The machine suddenly stopped due to a technical problem, and that also brought the tractor to a halt. Because of that sudden stop, I hit my head with the steering wheel.
"Next week's preparation for the Vuelta normally will not be compromised."
