Lorena Wiebes (Parkhotel Valkenburg) has taken the victory of the Prudential RideLondon Classique after Kirsten Wild was disqualified for irregular sprinting.

The 68-kilometre long race took the riders 20 times through a 3.4-kilometre circuit around St James' Park and Constitution Hill. The race was straightforward as there were not any significant climbs that could break the peloton.

Close to the line that would mark the final lap, Leah Kirchmann (Team Sunweb) crashed and her bike managed to get tangled with the one of the newly-crowned British champion Alice Barnes (Canyon-SRAM), which finished with the chances of the Briton to contest the final sprint, something that she was visibly upset about.

The compact pack arrived to the final kilometre for the final sprint and a sudden move of Kristen Wild (WNT Rotor) caused one of her wheels to touch Chloe Hosking's wheel and sent her to the ground, which provoked a mass crash that affected several riders of the back of the peloton.

Wild was the fastest rider to cross the finish line but after an investigation, the race organisation took the decision of disqualifying her for the incident that caused the crash. Lorena Wiebes (Parkhotel Valkenburg) took then the victory of the race while Elisa Balsamo (Valcar Cylance) and Coryn Rivera (Sunweb) completed the final podium of the race.
