Team Cofidis has confirmed the signing of one of the best sprinters in the world, Elia Viviani and his lead-out man Fabio Sabatini.

The team confirmed the rumours that have been doing rounds for the last weeks and confirmed the signing of the two riders. Viviani will make the move after two years in Deceuninck-Quick-Step and has a palmares that includes stage wins in the Giro d'Italia, the Tour de France and the Vuelta a España, and victories in races like the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic, the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race and the EuroEyes Cyclassics Hamburg.

"I am very excited about riding in my new colours," said the Italian. "I was able to see by talking to Cedric Vasseur (General Manager of Cofidis) and Roberto Damiani (Sports Director) how much the team was committed to getting me and proposing me an ambitious project. I appreciate very much the desire to create a dynamic around me and the confidence I am shown with the arrival of my friend Fabio (Sabatini). Also, the shirt of Cofidis is among the most historic in the peloton and it is a pride to wear it.

"Regarding my goals for next season, even if I won a stage this year, I really want to win more at the Tour de France. I feel like I can win more! In terms of classics, there are two races that I dream to win: Milano-Sanremo and Gent-Wevelgem. These will be my main goals next season with Cofidis."

Sabatini is considered one of the best lead-out men in the peloton and has worked in the service of top sprinters like Fabio Petacchi, Eric Zabel, Peter Sagan, Mark Cavendish and Marcel Kittel. "We are happy to join Cofidis with Elia," the Italian commented. "Cofidis is one of the oldest sponsors in cycling and the prospects of the team, starting next season, are very exciting.

"I have a lot of experience to take a rider to victory. With Elia, we have been teammates since 2010 and we have a very good relationship. I am very happy to continue my career with him. We will do everything to win great victories in our new colours!"
