Marianne Vos (CCC-Liv) and Chantal Blaak (Boels Dolmans) won't start at the mixed team relay event at the European Championships due to injuries.

The Dutch rider of CCC-Liv has a slight injury that doesn't allow her to be in time trial position and this stops her from participating in the new event of the European Championships. "If I ride in the time trial position, I suffer from a slight irritation in the gluteal muscles," explained the rider.

"I had to make a choice in view of the road race on Saturday. It is better not to provoke the body too much now."

Vos will be replaced by Team Sunweb's Floortje Mackaij in the event that will take place on August 7. Earlier in the day, it was also known that Chantal Blaak won't be in the event either due to an injury and will be replaced by Riejanne Markus.

The team is completed by Amy Pieters, Bauke Mollema, Ramon Sinkeldam and Koen Bouwman.
