Bora-hansgrohe

Bora-hansgrohe's Rafal Majka climbed 17 positions in the overall standings of the Tour de Pologne after showing a good performance in the final kilometres of the stage.

One day after the neutralised stage in honour of Bjorg Lambrecht, the peloton returned to racing and the Polish rider managed to stay with the main group in the final laps of the day's stage, keeping the pace in the difficult ramps of the last kilometres. Despite he got boxed in at the last metres, Majka was the best Polish rider of the day and climbed to the 17th place of the General Classification.

"As hard at it is, today we had to go back to racing," said the rider. "But we will never forget what has happened. I came here to prepare also for La Vuelta and I am in good shape. I have recovered well after the Giro and my legs get better day by day.

"Today, our main goal was to go for Pascal, to defend the yellow jersey, but also keep an eye on the GC contenders. I was a little bit boxed in, in the finale, but still, I managed to finished in 6th place, and there is nothing to complain about. Tomorrow, the mountains are coming up and I am looking forward to it because it is fun to ride on home soil."
