Movistar Team has announced the signing of Katrine Aalerud. The Norwegian rider arrives to the Spanish team to strengthen the climbing force of it.

The 24-year-old has been in Virtu Cycling for the last two years and has signed a contract with the Spanish formation for the next two. Aalerud is considered one of the most promising young talents of the peloton because with only three years competing at the highest level she has taken top-10 results in races like Emakumeen Bira, the Tour de l'Ardeche and at climbing stages like the Mont Ventoux in the French race or the Monte Zoncolan in the Giro Rosa.

"Katrine is a great reinforcement and a huge prospect when it comes to tough stage races," said Sebastián Unzué, manager of the team. "Despite her short career in the top tier of cycling, she’s already notched up remarkable results, both in WorldTour multi-day events and gruelling mountain-top finishes, most times showing an outstanding level for her young age.

"She’s also a strong TT rider, which makes us hold great hopes for her good future in diverse stage races. We continue to revamp our roster for next season with young, talented riders, which makes us all excited at the Movistar Team about our near future and also gives loads of motivation to our riders heading into next season."
