UAE-Team Emirates' Tadej Pogacar did an outstanding performance at the tenth stage of the Vuelta a España -individual time trial- although he finished in the eleventh place of the day's classification.

The Slovenian youngster had a good start of the fight against the clock by setting the best time at the first intermediate point -that, later on, was beaten by his fellow countryman Primoz Roglic. The second part of the course seemed more demanding for Pogacar, who at the end got the eleventh best time of the day.

The 20-year-old completed the 36.2-kilometre route of the individual time trial in 48 minutes and 43 seconds. With this performance, the rider stayed in the fifth position of the overall classification, three minutes and five seconds behind Roglic.

"It was a hard TT but I felt great so I just went full gas when I could," Pogacar commented at the end of the stage in France. "On the downhills, I rested a bit but after the second hill, I was struggling a bit so I had to pace myself.

"It was my dream to wear the Slovenian TT jersey in a Grand Tour and today I got to do it and represent my country. I think today was perfect for Roglic so I think so it’s not a surprise he won."
