Movistar's Richard Carapaz will miss the OVO Energy Tour of Britain due to problems with his visa.
The Ecuadorian was set to lead the Spanish team in the British race and return to racing after missing the Vuelta a España. Carapaz was going to headline Movistar along with Mikel Landa but his visa was not issued on time for him to be at the start line in Glasgow on the seventh of August.
"Sadly, and despite the Movistar Team following all procedures, Richard Carapaz's visa for the Tour of Britain has not been granted in time for him to travel to the race," explained the Spanish formation through a statement. "Hector Carretero will be replacing the Ecuadorian."
This race was part of the second half of the season for Carapaz, who earlier in the year took the biggest victory of his career so far by taking the overall win in the Giro d'Italia. The rider will move to Ineos in 2020, his three-year contract with the British formation was announced earlier in the week.
