UAE-Team Emirates' Tadej Pogacar was one of the riders that hit the deck at the last kilometre of the 14th stage at the Vuelta a España.
The leader of the Young rider classification and the winner of two stages of the race so far stayed with the peloton throughout the entire stage on a day that didn't have the potential of causing any differences in the GC fight. But just after the last-kilometre banner, a mass crash affected the pack, including the Slovenian rider.
"Most of the day was stress-free," said the rider -who is in the third overall position of the race. "In the end, I don’t know what happened but suddenly half the group was on the ground and I was among them.
"I just hope everyone is okay and that there are no serious injuries. I’m okay, just a few cuts, but some others came off a lot worse."
The 15th stage of the Spanish grand tour will be over a 154.4-kilometre route that can cause trouble for the General Classification contenders. The course will include four climbs of the first category, including the mountain finish of the Santuario del Acebo.
