Chloe Hosking (Ale Cipollini) has won the second stage of the Madrid Challenge by La Vuelta and Lisa Brennauer took the overall win after her performance on the first day.

The second day of the women's race of the Vuelta a España took the riders through a 98.6-kilometre route that was formed by several laps in the city circuit of Madrid. The stage started with a lot of action and several attacks by riders like Movistar's Lourdes Oyarbide, but the peloton made sure to control each of them.

Brennauer, who won the individual time trial of the first stage and topped the overall standings, managed to take the first intermediate sprint and Lucinda Brand (Sunweb) took the fourth, which put her closer to the top of the General Classification. The last part of the race was also full of attacks but nobody managed to create a considerable gap with the rest.

Everything came down to a bunch sprint in which Ale Cipollini's Chloe Hosking showed to have the better legs by crossing the finish line ahead of Letizia Paternoster (Trek-Segafredo) and Roxane Fournier (Movistar). Brennauer arrived to the finish safely with the peloton and took the overall victory of the race.
