Jumbo-Visma's Primoz Roglic has been selected for the Slovenian selection for the World Championships. Egan Bernal and Michal Kwiatkowski have chosen to skip the competition.

Just days after Roglic became the first Slovenian to win a Grand Tour, the cycling federation of his country has chosen him to be part of the selection that will face the World Championships of Yorkshire. The rider will join Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates), who also did an outstanding job in the Spanish grand tour and stepped on the third place of the final podium.

The two riders will be joined by Matej Mohoric, Grega Bole, Jan Tratnik, Luka Pibernik (Bahrain-Merida), Jan Polanc (UAE Team Emirates) and David Per (Adria Mobil).

The winner of the 2019 Tour de France, Egan Bernal was announced by the Colombian Cycling Federation as part of the selection for the World Championships, but one day later he stepped out of it. His place is going to be filled by Movistar's Carlos Betancur.

The selection of Poland had included former World Champion Michal Kwiatkowski in its line-up for the road race, but the rider announced through Twitter that he won't be there. "I feel to much respect for this jersey and Polish eagle to start in the UCI Worlds 2019," he wrote. "After the Tour de France, I said that my body called for a break. A real one. Since then I’ve not been chasing any results. I truly needed that. I will keep my fingers crossed for Polish team at Yorkshire."
