EF Education First has announced the signing of Norwegian sprinter Kristoffer Halvorsen.

The 23-year-old took a step to the WorldTour with Team Sky in 2018 and after two years in the British formation, he has decided it's time to face a new challenge. The win that stands out in the palmares of the Norwegian is the title of the U23 road race of the World Championships of Doha in 2016.

"From day one, I got a good feeling for EF and their desire to rely on me as a sprinter," said Halvorsen. "My impression is that the team has a good environment and a culture that will suit me. This feels like the right choice to help me achieve my goals as a cyclist."

"I'm a sprinter that really, really likes to win and hates to lose. I want to help us win together as a team, help us develop as a team."

EF Education First's CEO Jonathan Vaughters welcomed the signing of the Norwegian sprinter. "Kristoffer is a great talent, and it's up to us now to help him realize that talent," he explained.

"Our sports science and sport directors group is motivated to make this guy a champion. As an organization, we're only missing one monument on the trophy mantle, and that's Milan-Sanremo. Halvorsen is our ticket to getting that last one over the fireplace."
