Bora-hansgrohe's Pascal Ackermann has taken his victory number eleven of the current season at the Gooikse Pijl.

The Belgian race was 198.1 kilometres long with a start and finish in Gooik over a rolling course that brought some challenges like street furniture, narrow roads and difficult road surfaces. The escape of the day took an advantage of two minutes over the pack but they were caught by a motivated peloton led by Bora-hansgrohe trying to force for a sprint finish.

Ackermann was the most efficient man in the finale and took the victory, outsprinting Alberto Dainese (SEG Racing Academy) and Timothy Dupont (Wanty-Gobert). "It was a very fast and nervous Gooikse Pijl, with so many attacks and breakaways, right from the start," said the German rider.

"But, once again, every rider of the Bora-hansgrohe squad did a brilliant job and we controlled the race from start to finish. We kept the breaks under check and responded to the attacks, especially in the final kilometres. This excellent work was topped off with a perfect lead-out by Rüdiger Selig and Peter Sagan. I'd like to thank everybody today for their performance, this victory is the result of our teamwork. We were so close yesterday and today we did it!"
