Bahrain-Merida has announced the termination of the contract of Rohan Dennis just after the finish of the World Championships of Yorkshire.
The team has confirmed with has been rumoured for months: Time Trial World Champion Dennis has left the formation. The rider reportedly had problems with the team's time trial bike and skinsuit at the Tour de France, a situation that finished with the Australian leaving the race in the middle of the 12th stage and one day before the fight against the clock where he was one of the favourites.
The rider left the grand tour without consulting it with his team and without a word, which led to the breaking of the rider's contract. "The team terminated its contract with Mr Dennis on 13th September 2019," said Bahrain-Merida in a short and concise press note.
"This termination has not previously been made public to allow Mr Dennis an undisturbed preparation for the UCI 2019 Road World Championships. Mr Dennis has referred the termination to the UCI Arbitral Board."
Dennis just won the individual time trial of the World Championships for the second year in a row on a BMC Time Machine unbranded, which is the bike that he used to have in BMC.
