Israel Cycling Academy has announced the signing of Swiss climber Patrick Schelling for the 2020 season.

The Israeli team continues preparing its roster for its WorldTour debut in 2020 and has confirmed the signing of Schelling. The Swiss rider returns to the highest tier of professional cycling after being four seasons at Team Vorarlberg and arrives with the objective of supporting the GC riders on the mountains.

"After hitting back in recent years I always gave my best to return to a professional team," explained Schelling. "Unfortunately it hasn’t been easy, but now I’m very happy that I have managed it after 4 long years of hard work. I experienced this kind of high level for 3 years so I am not scared at all."

The Swiss will be a great support for Dan Martin and Ben Hermans in the hardest stages of the upcoming season. "Patrick is a climbing all rounder that can be a great help to Dan and Ben, but also take his chances in races," said Israel Cycling Academy's Manager Kjell Carlstrom.

"He has been consistently good in short climbing stage races like Tour of Austria and just outside the top ten also in Tour de Suisse” this season, so we are getting a proven climber."
