Bahrain-Merida will be led by Vincenzo Nibali and Dylan Teuns at the last monument of the year: Il Lombardia.

Nibali will start in the race with the objective of winning it for the third time -he already did it in 2015 and 2017, while Teuns has shown to have the talents and the shape to face the challenges of the parcours. The Italian race will be 243-kilometres long and will have an elevation gain of around 4000 metres with climbs that include the Madonna del Ghisallo and the Muro di Sormano, among others.

"I expect the usual tough and extremely selective race," commented Bahrain-Meridas sports director Alberto Volpi. "Vincenzo has shown he has a growing condition and will be one of our leaders. Dylan Teuns will be the other one also because he has already shown that he had a good feeling with the Lombard roads."

At the last edition of the race, Nibali finished in the second position and Teuns in the third place. "Being on the podium of this beautiful race makes me only dream more," said the Belgian. "Last Tuesday at the Tre Valli Varesine I had some good sensations and so I'm looking forward to being in the front tomorrow. I really would like to close my season with a very good result."

Bahrain-Merida's roster for Il Lombardia (October 12):

Vincenzo Nibali
Damiano Caruso
Andrea Garosio
Antonio Nibali
