Elia Viviani had his last competition day with Deceuninck-Quick-Step at the Tacx Pro Classic, where he took the second place.
The two-years of the Italian rider in the team finished with a good performance at the Dutch race -which featured narrow roads, cobblestones and even crosswinds. Viviani crossed the finish line just behind Dylan Groenewegen after Deceuninck-Quick-Step did outstanding last work for him.
In these two years, the rider strengthened his position as one of the best sprinters in the world with a total of 29 victories -eight in Grand Tours, the Italian national title and several classics. "It feels a bit strange knowing this was my last race with the team," said Viviani at the end of the race. "The last two years have been really unbelievable, and I made some big steps forward and entered into another dimension as a rider. I want to thank the squad – everyone from the riders to the mechanics and from the soigneurs to Patrick – for putting their confidence in me.
"I am happy that I leave so many beautiful things behind me while I take a lot of memories with me after these two extraordinary years. It’s impossible to name just one special moment because there was a myriad of unforgettable moments that I got to live with the Wolfpack. It’s been an honour to ride for this team and with such an amazing group of guys!"
The rider has signed a one-year deal with Cofidis for 2020.
