Mitchelton-Scott's Sarah Roy is recovering from surgery but she's already looking forward to the 2020 season.

The 33-year-old Australian had to cut her 2019 season short to have a surgery in the femoral artery to fix an injury that has affected her in the first part of the year. Despite this, she won the Clasica Femenina Navarra, topped the points classification in the Santos Women's Tour Down Under and got top-five stage positions in the Giro Rosa, the OVO Energy Women's Tour, the road race of the Australian championships and the Tour Down Under.

Roy will focus on her recovery and the classics season in 2020. "Looking back on the season, on paper it looked like an alright season, but personally I felt like there was a lot of failures," she commented. "I have discovered now that I was carrying an injury the whole time so it explains a lot but it's unfortunate I couldn't get the results at the time. I am proud of the way I got through the season. I'm proud that I investigated and looked into how I was feeling and got the support that I needed for that.

"Looking to next year, the team and I are pretty excited to see what I can do. The idea is that I will be a lot more consistent and that I will have that top-end power that I haven't had for the last couple of years. I've just finished my fifth season with the team. I feel at home here, it is a family for me now. I feel incredibly supported, it's a really special feeling so I want to give the team as much of myself as I can next year. There's no other team I would want to ride for."
