Team Ineos' Egan Bernal is already thinking in the upcoming season and about his possibilities in the Grand Tours.
The winner of the 2019 Tour de France is taking part in the exhibition race of Rigoberto Urán -the Giro de Rigo- in Colombia. There, the rider talked to the media about the calendar of the upcoming season, particularly about his opinions on the grand tours.
"It will be difficult to choose between the Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France," said the rider to the media. "The Tour is more important, but the Giro is a very beautiful race. I lived there for two years, I like that country very much, I have many friends there and its route seems more appealing to me."
Bernal was set to start in the 2019 edition of the Italian grand tour but he crashed during training and broke a clavicle, which forced him to be part of Ineos' selection for the Tour de France. In the French race, the Colombian showed to be the strongest rider, particularly in the climbs.
"The Giro is very appealing to me," the rider continued. "The Tour is good for the climbers, but it doesn't have very long ascents, it is more for an explosive kind of climber. It is difficult to make a decision right now, I will have to take a seat with the team and analyse it. But I already won the Tour and I'd like to try it in the Giro."
