Team Delko Marseille Provence has completed its roster for the 2020 with the signing of Fumiyuki Beppu.

The French team will collaborate with Nippo Vini Fantini from 2020 and Beppu is becoming the fourth Japanese signing for the season. The rider became professional in 2005 and has a wide experience in the peloton and in the WorldTour which he acquired by being part of teams like Discovery Channel, RadioShack, Orica GreenEdge and Trek-Segafredo.

"This is a new challenge for me," said Beppu. "It was time to take a new direction in my career, to give it another dimension. I need change, new objectives... I really need this to keep my passion for cycling.

"I rode in World Tour teams for nearly 13 years. I had the chance to participate in the most beautiful races on the UCI calendar, classics, stage races, as well as the 3 major Tours. I would like to be able to put my experience to work for young riders. Sharing and transmitting, these are my desires for 2020, but not only. My objective is also to be selected for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. But for that, I have to prove myself because even at 36 years old nothing is ever acquired."

Frederic Rostaing, Manager of Delko Marseille Provence, welcomes the signing of the Japanese star. "I am very happy to welcome Fumy, who has chosen to join our team," he said. "From the beginning at Vélo Club La Pomme Marseille, we have always maintained close ties. Thus, we were able to discuss at length about the project, our respective ambitions and wills, and this directly 'matched'.

"Fumy is now part of the very limited circle of active riders (with Philippe Gilbert and Rui Costa in particular) who have left and finished the 3 major Tours, the 5 Monuments and the Olympic Games. It is an enormous added value in terms of experience and competitiveness that he will put at the service of our team and young talents. We also believe in him to perform in 2020 on classics such as Paris-Roubaix. Fumy is also particularly motivated by the prospect of the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan. On a personal level, it is both a joy and a pride to see old 'Pommiers' such as Fumy, José Gonçalves or Justin Jules come back under our colours to bring the project into a new era of evolution.

"We have beautiful and exciting challenges to succeed together in 2020!"
