Movistar team has announced that the Italian rider Sofia Bertizzolo won't be riding with the formation in 2020.

In August of 2019, the Spanish team and the Italian rider reached an agreement to become one of the four signings of the formation for the 2020 season. "The Italian has seen her transfer to the Telefónica-backed squad frustrated by legal constraints, derived from her contractual relationship with the Polizia di Stato," said Movistar in a statement.

The UCI has put in place new regulations regarding the Women's WorldTour teams, a category that Movistar is aiming for in the upcoming season, that prevents the existence of dual work contracts. This keeps Bertizzolo from starting her contract with the Spanish team in 2020 and after thinking of all the options available, it was clear that there is no solution that would allow her to ride in the team.

Movistar's roster for 2020 will be formed by eleven riders, including three signings: Katrine Aalerud, Jelena Eric and Barbara Guarischi. The other eight members rode with the formation in the 2019 season: Aude Biannic, Alicia González, Sheyla Gutiérrez, Eider Merino, Lourdes Oyarbide, Paula Patiño, Gloria Rodríguez and Alba Teruel.
