Movistar Team has confirmed the signing of young talent Mathias Norsgaard and the contract extension of Edu Prades.
Norsgaard is 22 years old and is currently a member of the Danish Professional Continental team Riwal Readynez. The Dane finished in the fourth position of the 2019 U23 ITT World Championships and the third position in 2018, and with his height of two meters will be the taller rider ever to be in the Spanish formation.
The rider will be a powerful asset for the flat courses, which he showed at the first stage of the Tour de l'Avenir last August when he was part of a 120-kilometre breakaway, that finished with him winning after a 30-kilometre solo effort. Norsgaard will be the eighth member of Movistar aged 23 or less along with Gabriel Cullaigh, Iñigo Elosegui, Juan Diego Alba, Einer Rubio, Johan Jacobs, Juri Hollmann and Matteo Jorgenson.
The Spanish team also announced the contract extension of Prades for another year. In his maiden season in the WorldTour, the 32-year-old took the overall victory of the Vuelta a Aragón and won a stage of the Tour de la Provence.
