Movistar's newest signing Mathias Norsgaard has suffered a crash with a car in Girona, Spain, that left him with leg fractures.
Just days after the Spanish formation announced the signing of the young Danish talent, he was hit by a car during training in Girona. The rider was diagnosed with a double fracture of the tibia that will leave him out of competition for at least six months.
"I couldn't do anything," sais Norsgaard to Danish broadcaster TV2. "I crashed against the car and then against a street lamp. If I wouldn't have crashed against the lamp, the injuries would have been minor, because I didn't really hurt myself anywhere else.
"My preparation was going really well and I was really looking forward to starting to ride with the team. Now all that is ruined. Fortunately, I have a two-year contract with Movistar, bit breaking my led is the worst possible start that I could have."
