Deceuninck-Quick-Step's Julian Alaphilippe is set to start his 2020 season in South America just like he has done it in the last two years.
The Frenchman will copy the first parts of his 2018 and 2019 and will kick off his season in South America. Alaphilippe will start the year in the 38th edition of the Vuelta a San Juan -from January 26 to February 2- and then will travel up north to be at the third edition of the Tour Colombia -which will be held between the 11th and the 16th of February.
In 2019, the rider took three stage wins for Deceuninck-Quick-Step in both races, and he was the best placed European in both events. The winner of the Velo d'Or trophy -which rewards the best cyclist in the world- will aim to improve his 2019 season, in which he wore the Maillot Jaune of the Tour de France during eleven stages and took the victories in races like Strade Bianche, Milano-Sanremo and la Fleche Wallonne.
"This past season I had an excellent start of the year in the Vuelta a San Juan and Tour Colombia," Alaphilippe commented. "It's been amazing for me, a great experience, made even more memorable by the fantastic fans over there. I'm really happy I can start my season in these beautiful countries again and I will do my utmost to get some good results."
