The Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana has announced that its Queen Stage will be held in Alicante, with a newly conditioned climb.

The Spanish race -which will be part of the Pro Series from 2020- has announced the route of its Queen Stage. The competition will be decided on the newly paved Sierra de Bernia in a stage that will include the picturesque city of Altea for the first time.

"The intermediate sprint of the day will be in the Town Hall square and the stage will finish with a spectacular climb on the Sierra de Bernia to the Fuente de la Barca -a climb that has recently been conditioned and that will be five kilometres long and will include ascents with ramps of 24%," said Pere Barber, Sports Councillor of Altea.

"The stage of Altea will be short, with 156 kilometres of length, and five climbs," added race director Ángel Casero. "This will be the Queen Stage, with a lot of inclination and it will decide the winner of the Vuelta CV. The show is guaranteed with the participation of 12 World Tour and seven Pro Continental teams."
