The route of the first edition of the Saudi Tour was announced, as well as some names that will take part in it.

The first Saudi Tour ever will be held between the fourth and the eighth of February and will combine different kind of landscapes around the capital Riyadh. This race will offer stages that are good for the fast riders and others that are better for the puncheurs and the breakaway specialists.

The first stage of the Saudi Tour will start from the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee headquarters and will take the riders through a desert visit before facing an uphill finish in Jaww. The second stage will the longest and will have a start next to the Sadus Castle and finish on the modern Riyadh Turky Road on a day that can be heavily affected by crosswinds.

The third stage will take off at the King Saud University and finish in Al Bujairi, on a day that has the potential of being the most challenging with a total of nine climbs. The next day, the peloton will tackle another day through the desert and will include an 5-kilometre ascent with a gradient of around five per cent in Qiddiya.

The last stage will start in front of the Princess Nourah University and finish at the Masmak fort after going through Riyadh. The organization of the race has confirmed the participation of riders like Mark Cavendish (Bahrain-McLaren), Yoann Offredo (Circus-Wanty Gobert), Nacer Bouhanni (Arkea-Samsic), Niki Terpstra (Total Direct Energie) and Angel Madrazo (Burgos-BH) among many others.
