Arkea Samsic's Nacer Bouhanni has taken the victory at the first stage of the Tour de La Provence in a fast finale.

The first stage of the French race was 149.5 kilometres long between Chateaurenard and Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer and despite the efforts of the breakaway men, things unfolded as expected and the day finished with a bunch sprint.

In his third race with Arkea-Samsic, the French sprinter managed to break through the bunch and take his second victory of the season -the first one was at the fourth stage of the Saudi Tour. Bouhanni crossed the finish line ahead of Jakub Mareczko (CCC Team) and Giacomo Nizzolo NTT Pro Cycling.

Nippo Delko One Provence's Pierre Barbier and Israel Start-Up Nation's Hugo Hofstetter completed the top five of the day. With this victory, Bouhanni also took the lead of the General Classification.
