Team Ineos' Owain Doull has taken the victory of the last stage at the Tour de la Provence while Nairo Quintana confirmed his overall win.

The closing stage of the French race was 170.5 kilometres over a route that took the peloton between Avignon and Aix-en-Provence and that included three classified climbs before a downhill stretch to the finish.

The breakaway of the day included names like Owain Doull (Ineos), Mathias Brändle (Israel Cycling Academy) Ian Garrison (Deceuninck-Quick-Step), and Romain Combaud (Nippo Delko One Provence) and it built a gap of more than four minutes with the pack.

The escapees worked well with each other and arrived together to the last kilometre while behind, the peloton worked hard to catch them and force a final sprint. The quartet was almost caught at the last kilometre, but Doull managed to cross the finish line in the first position and just metres before the pack.

Quintana crossed the finish line with the pack and confirmed his overall victory in the race.
