Bahrain McLaren has announced that Mikel Landa will not take part in Paris-Nice due to an injury he suffered last month.

On February 1, Landa suffered an accident caused by a car during training and cracked a rib. The medical team of the formation has determined that the injury will need a bit more time to heal and that is the main reason why the Spaniard will not be at the start line of the French race.

"The persistence of stress pain caused by last month’s road accident requires Mikel to have a less physically demanding schedule over the next two weeks," said Bahrain Merida's head doctor Carlo Guardascione.

"I am disappointed to be missing this famous race, and was looking forward to competing with my Team Bahrain McLaren teammates in front of France’s passionate fans," added Landa. "The best thing for me now is to train and get back in full shape as soon as possible, and I look forward to competing again soon – fully fit."
