Paris-Nice
Vincenzo Nibali is set to lead Trek-Segafredo at Paris-Nice after the cancellation of Tirreno-Adriatico, the race he was originally going to ride at this point of his season.
The 2020 edition of the French race is set to start on the 8th of March and it is the only race that is continuing at the moment among the coronavirus fears that have force the Italian competitions to be cancelled. Trek-Segafredo will start in the race with a strong line-up led by the multiple grand tour winner.
Next to Nibali, Richie Porte will also be at the start line of Paris-Nice, but he will be targetting stage wins.
"I decided with the team to be at Paris-Nice to keep the schedule leading up to the Giro d'Italia virtually unchanged," said Nibali. "At the moment, it's important to put kilometres and days of racing in the legs. Given the situation in Italy, the change of calendar was practically mandatory. I'm very sorry I can't race in my country, and I hope that the situation will soon get better, regardless of the races.
"At Paris-Nice, my goal is to confirm the good impressions I had at the Ardèche and Drôme Classics and to make another leap in condition. The team is very strong and well-prepared, and I want to give my contribution."
Trek-Segafredo's line-up for Paris-Nice (March 8-15):
