UAE Team Emirates' Fernando Gaviria has confirmed that he has tested positive with the coronavirus in the United Arab Emirates.

After days of rumours and speculation, the Colombian sprinter has confirmed through an Instagram video that he is suffering from Covid-19. The rider used the video to tell his fans and fellow countrymen that he is doing fine, and he is on his way to recovery during the quarantine in Abu Dhabi.

"I know there has been many rumours about my health but I'm fine," said Gaviria in the video. "I've been through constant tests that have shown a positive result for the coronavirus. But I'm feeling fine.

"I'd like to thank my team, all the personnel from the hospital who have treated me very well. I'm here to try to avoid the infection to anybody else, to try to contain the spreading the way it is going. And I wanted to tell you that I'm doing fine and that I hope that all this gets solved soon."
