CCC Team's Greg Van Avermaet has taken the win at the first virtual edition of the Ronde van Vlaanderen/Tour de Flanders. Oliver Naesen and Nicolas Roche took the other two spots of the final podium.

The Ronde van Vlaanderen/Tour de Flanders 2020 lockdown edition was 31 kilometres long and had the participation of Remco Evenepoel, Yves Lampaert, Zdenek Stybar (Deceuninck-Quick-Step), Oliver Naesen (AG2R La Mondiale), Tom Wellens, Thomas De Gendt (Lotto SOudal), Mike Teunissen, Wout van Aert (Jumbo-Visma), Michael Matthews, Nicolas Roche (Sunweb), Jasper Stuyven (Trek-Segafredo), Greg Van Avermaet (CCC Team) and the winner of the 2019 edition of the race Alberto Bettiol (EF Pro Cycling).

Evenepoel and Bettiol launched an early attack and were later on joined by Roche and De Gendt, while behind Wellens, Van Avermaet and Van Aert tried to bridge to the front. At the end, only Van Avermaet and Naesen managed to reach the front while Matthews abandoned after having a mechanical problem.

At the Paterberg, Van Avermaet launched an attack that left the others struggling in the back, particularly Evenepoel. The Belgian rider of CCC Team managed to create a gap of almost 20 seconds over Naesen and Roche until the finish line, taking his first win at the race.

De Gendt and Stuyven completed the top five of the day.
