Androni Giocattoli-Sidermec and Movistar have taken the win of the second stage of the virtual Giro d'Italia while Astana and Trek-Segafredo retained the GC lead at the men's and women's races respectively.

The second stage of the virtual competition was 32.7 kilometres long between Linaro and Sogliano al Rubicone and featured two steep climbs. Matteo Spreafico and Luca Chirico of Androni Giocattoli completed the course with a combined time of 2 hours, three minutes and 15 seconds, beating Astana Pro Team by three minutes and one second and the Italian National team by 11 minutes and 53 seconds.

Astana, which was represented today by Omar Fraile and Hugo Houle, managed to retain the Maglia Rosa with a lead of ten minutes and 19 seconds over the Italian team winner of the second day. The Italian national selection is 15 minutes and 38 seconds behind the GC leader.

In the Pink Race, Movistar team was represented by Gloria Rodriguez and Katrine Aalerud, and they completed the course in a combined time of two hours, 31 minutes and 56 seconds. Trek-Segafredo's Elisa Longo Borghini and Lucinda Brand finished in the second position four minutes and 40 seconds behind the winners and the Italian national team -with Elena Cecchini and Marta Cavalli- were third at 27 minutes and 49 seconds from the winner team.

Trek-Segafredo retained the lead of the General Classification and Movistar sits in the second place at six minutes and 23 seconds and the Italian national team is in the third place, 27 minutes and 27 seconds behind the American formation.
