Nicolas Roche (Team Sunweb) has taken the win at the third race of the Digital Swiss 5 on a day in which the first disqualification of virtual racing in coronavirus times happened to Pierre Latour.

The third race of the Digital Swiss 5 -organised by the Tour de Suisse, Velon and the virtual cycling platform Rouvy- featured a 33.5-kilometre route that was suitable for the climbers, which brought to the competition names like Adam and Simon Yates (Mitchelton-Scott), Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) and Ilnur Zakarin (CCC Team).

Pierre Latour (AG2R La Mondiale) took the lead of the race early on the day and behind him riders like Nicolas Roche (Sunweb), Larry Warbasse (AG2R La Mondiale), Michal Kwiatkowski (Team Ineos) and Ilnur Zakarin (CCC Team) were chasing him. At the start of the climb of the day -13 kilometres long to the Nufenen Pass- Latour mysteriously disappeared and left Roche in the lead position.

Later on, the organisation of the race clarified through Twitter that Latour was disqualified "due to technical problems with his home trainer." Roche was the first rider to cross the finish line, while Zakarin and Warbasse completed the podium of the day.
