UAE Team Emirates' Fernando Gaviria is already back on his bike training after recovering from the Covid-19.

Gaviria was one of the riders that tested positive for the Covid-19 during the UAE Tour. The race had to be cancelled with two stages to go after an unknown number of people tested positive for the coronavirus and everyone involved in the race had to be quarantined in their hotels.

Days later, Gaviria commented through a video that he was one of the riders with the illness -later it was confirmed that his teammate Maximiliano Richeze also had the Covid-19- and after his recovery he returned to his country, Colombia, in a humanitarian flight along with 55 fellow countrymen.

"We thought that the coronavirus wasn't too serious but it is," he said in a video posted in his social media channels. "I had the illness and I had a few very difficult and worrying days. But I have been able to return home. I'm calm and relieved, starting to train, I'm training from home because we need to take care of the vulnerable people."

"I would like to thank everybody who has supported me and that have been next to me in these difficult moments that the whole world is going through. I want to send greetings and my support to the people that are going through a hard time."
